As I was sitting in
my living room one night, I
saw this little dog - I call
him by 'weiner dog' come up
to the glass door and peered
inside. As soon as he saw me,
he ran like the wind.
I could tell he was
afraid as he ran with his
tail tucked tightly between
his legs. I never thought
anymore about it, but for the
next 3 days I would see him
around very scared looking
and always running when he
saw anyone.
I knew he was hungry
and he looked skinner and
skinner each time I saw him.
So I started putting water
and food in the drainage
ditch so the sea gulls would
not get it.
The next morning it
was gone. I did not know if I
was feeding my 'weiner dog'
or a big snake.
Finally I put the
food and water up on the
porch, but he never comes to
eat only at night.
I thought 'Lord this
is so sad.' The Lord put on
my heart that this is how
some people are. The Lord has
all this love and has
provided for everything in
their life they need and they
will not come and get it. I
know how the Lord feels when
we reject him because I can
see it in this little scared
'weiner dog.'
Here he would have a
good home, love and
attention, food and all that
he would need in life, but
because of fear he has
rejected it all. He lives in
the weeds and only comes out
at night to eat. Such a
lonely life and so sad as his
life would change instantly
if he would just come to me.
How many of you know
God is providing all you
need, even if you only come
out at night to partake of
it. All you need to do is say
'Jesus, here I am.' He is
waiting with open arms. You
will never have to face fear
again.
Won't you partake of
God's Grace and accept the
love of His Beloved Son Jesus
who died for you? The Holy
Spirit is waiting to guide
you into all truth.
Please accept the
peace that passes all
understanding and life
eternal.
JESUS
HERE I AM
A beautiful update
to this story:
We have tried for
over six months to catch this
poor little dog living in the
weeds. Is was turning cold
and raining and he was still
in the weeds. I tried
enticing him with food but he
would not let you get close
enough to even give him the
food - one look at a human
and he was off to the shelter
of the weeds. I had put the
word out to the neighborhood
to try to catch him.
One day I was just
talking to him from about 100
yards away and I told him 'I
am going to catch you - you
know' and at that off he ran.
I wrote my friend in
California to help me pray
that we can catch him before
the very cold weather came.
She wrote back that she had
really prayed for my doggie
and while I was still reading
the e-mail, my next door
neighbor knocked on the door
and with a big grin on his
face and my little doggie in
his arms, the prayer was
answered. He had donned his
welding gloves and when the
doggie came up to eat he
started a dead run at him and
caught him just as he was
running off the front porch
to his shelter of the weeds.
My neighbor tackled him and
as the doggie tried to chew
off his fingers, he just laid
there and scratched his ears
and the doggie finally knew
he was not going to hurt him
and settled down. By the time
I reached for him - he was
calm.
Now we have this
beautiful little dog in the
warmth and care of loving
arms. This is the beautiful
reality that happens when we
are lost and running out of
fear from our precious Savior
and when He finally tackles
us and holds us in His loving
arms we realize that is where
the warmth and protection
really comes from.
Update: 6/15/00
After one and
one-half years of love and
care, this doggie knows he is
safe and secure, but the fear
has never left - he is very
leary of people and strange
places.
This shows you what
happens when the spirit is
abused and trampled on - the
scars last forever.
Careful what you say
- the hurts go deep.
